JHDC has strategically impacted its local community spiritually, physically, and otherwise over the years. At the height of the pandemic, JHDC (in partnership with its community development corporation – RCDC) responded to the rising demands of the community. The Church partnered with Montgomery County (and other county organizations) to provide support and to help combat the food insecurity challenges at the time via the ‘Grab & Go’ drive-through food distribution initiative. JHDC has maintained these partnerships as they continue to deliver food monthly to over 50 families under the Montgomery Housing Partnership in the County. In addition, Pastor Ghandi has continued to lead in the community via JHDC’s various outreaches that help empower its members and community in business, leadership, youth development, discipleship, faith-based counseling, and more.
Pastor Ghandi has been recognized globally as an influential leader; he has served as an Advisor and Council Member on the Council for New Americans by the Maryland State Governor, Martin O’Malley. He has also received various awards, including the Youth Empowerment and Positive Mentoring of Africans in the Diaspora Award and an image award for Community Leadership by the Nigerian reunion corporation.
